Duck Hunting in Uruguay
One of our most frequently asked questions revolves around the volume of wingshooting available, and the proximity of that shooting. Los Gauchos offers the best combination one could ever hope for all out of the same five star estancia. One can enjoy the best duck hunting Uruguay has to offer in the morning, followed by the legendary Uruguay dove hunting.
Uruguay duck hunting when combined with the dove hunting is typically a morning duck hunt. While the Uruguay dove hunting is available year round, Uruguay duck hunting is only available during the duck hunting season in Uruguay- May to September 15. We have several lodges or estancias and for those bringing non duck hunters, the estancias are very well equipped for non hunters and for relaxing after a good duck hunt.

Just one of the species of ducks in Uruguay
Uruguay duck hunting is good for several reasons. Los Gauchos did the scouting and with the assistance of several duck hunting professionals who are from Uruguay and know the land, Los Gauchos came across the duck marshes and rice fields that ducks inhabit. Eastern Uruguay is blessed with rice fields and farms, more land and ducks than people! So, end of story. Uruguay duck hunting and Los Gauchos -- let Los Gauchos take you there.
Los Gauchos provides 2 lodges dedicated to duck hunting in Uruguay. Rio Branco is now the NEW and updated Los Gauchos Uruguay Duck Hunting Club. This lodge in the Rio Branco area of Uruguay was built right on a rice farm and the key benefit is CLOSE access to the Uruguay ducks. The time to the duck hunting blinds is about 5 to 15 minutes. Just enough time to enjoy an extra cup of coffee and head out to the blinds. Rio Branco offers duck hunting in the morning as well as in the afternoon. The lodge accommodates up to 8 hunters per week with double occupancy bedrooms and private baths. The lodge was built on comfort and has the unique feature that a Duck Hunting Club should have: stone fireplace, bar with local beers, and good home cooked meals.
The Rio Branco Lodge or Uruguay Duck Hunting Club is located about 4 to 4.5 hours from Montevideo and the hunting either begins on the day of arrival (if your flight arrives before 10 AM) or the next morning. The Uruguay duck hunting trips are 3.5 , 4 or 4.5 days in length and can depend on the flight schedules out of Montevideo.
The second lodge for the Uruguay duck hunting is located in Chuy, again on the eastern side of Uruguay and right near the duck hunting marshes and rice fields. The Fortin Lodge is operated by Eduardo Gonzalez and his success is a big part of the Uruguay duck hunting history. The Fortin Lodge also includes morning and afternoon duck hunts; however, you can opt for a Perdiz hunt during the Perdiz hunting season.
Contact Los Gauchos about any of these Uruguay duck hunting destinations. We speak your language -- waterfowl.
