If ever there were a land custom built for the waterfowler, it’s Uruguay. Endless flights of pintails, Rosybilled Pochards, teal and other diving and puddle ducks charge decoys with all of the intensity of a linebacker sacking a quarterback in a championship game.
But bird hunting in Uruguay has a lot more to offer than just great hunting trips…the fishing that can be combined in a Cast and Blat is also a true crowd-pleaser, and quickly becoming one of our most popular venues. When the word “dorado” comes up, many think “Mahi Mahi”. However, the Golden Dorado is a freshwater fish that is unique to South America, and bears no resemblance to the Mahi Mahi in any way. The dorado is a fish that evolved from the Salmonoid family, but can also trace its roots back to the brethren that it shares the river with—the piranha. The dorado has razor sharp teeth and destroys lures and flies with glee. Once hooked, you can expect the fight of your life, and these fish love to jump—often leaping five to six feet out of the water!

Many do not know that Uruguay was once a province of Argentina, and much of the same culture and traditions that exist there can also be found here in Uruguay.
