These geese have never seen hunters, and never seen decoys, much like the birds one would encounter on an outing of Uruguay duck hunting.  The geese decoy into simple spreads, and can easily be enticed into close Shotgunning range—magnum loads are not even necessary to get the job done, because these birds fold up with even the lightest bit of shot to the head and/or or breast area.  

Our guides will expertly call the geese within twenty yards, and then call the shot.  Following the guides instructions and shooting precisely when the shot is called is critical to success—because most shooters miss when they shoot at birds that fly in TOO CLOSE; when this happens, the shot string does not have a chance to mature, and the result is normally a missed shot, which nearly always leaves the shooter in a state of disbelief.

Like duck hunting in Argentina, or duck hunting in Uruguay, Argentina goose hunting takes place in the morning, leaving the afternoons for the birds to rest in the roosts.  Roost shoots are only permitted on the last week of the season, since of course, it does not matter if the birds become scattered about the county.  Roost shoots can be booked in advance, on a first come, first served basis.
